French toast is known by many names around the world. Some people call it as gypsy bread whereas at some places this dish is popularly known as eggy bread.

This dish is said to be as old as 4th century.


  • About one teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
  • Half teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • Three tablespoon of sugar
  • 100 grams of butter
  • Six eggs
  • Half cup of cow’s milk
  • Vanilla extract measuring about 1/4th teaspoon
  • White Bread
  • Warmed Maple Syrup – Half cup



Step 1

Take cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar in a small bowl. Keep mixture for sometime in the bowl.

Step 2

Heat butter on a flat pan. Now break eggs in a bowl and add cinnamon mixture, milk and vanilla. Whip the mixture thoroughly. Now take bread and dip it into the egg mixture.

Step 3

Put slice on the pan. Fry until it gets golden brown. Flip to cook the other side. Make sure to not overcook. Just take it off the pan when the slice gets light brown on both sides.

Step 4

You French toast is ready. Server it with syrup
