Bally Chohan Recipe Dal Bati Churma

Rajasthan is the place which is famous for its rich and traditional culture all over the world. Rajasthani’s love their food and are very visible from their preparations. Dal Bati Churma is the most know dish from the state. Trip to Rajasthan is half-done if you have not tried for Dal Bati Churma.

A tray of semi-sweet Churma, spicy Dal and deep-fried Baati, is the perfect combination . Fresh baatis dipped in hot dal is a perfect supplement for churma.

Ingredients: For Dal: 

5 tbsp chana dal
5 tbsp arhar dal
5 tbsp moong dal
1 tbsp urad dal

1 tbsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
Salt according to your taste
3 tbsp ghee
3-4 cloves (laungh)
2 Tejpatta
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 chopped green chilies

a pinch of hing powder
1 tsp garlic paste

1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder

Method for dal:

  1. Mix all the dals. Wash them and then add 4 cups of water and salt with all dals in a pressure cooker. Cook until 3 whistles come out.
  2. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan and add cloves, cumin seeds , bay leaves ,green chilies and hing powder at a medium flame.
  3. Now add garlic paste and chopped onions and chilies and leave them until they become brown at medium flame. Now add tomatoes, coriander powder, chili powder and garam masala to it. Mix it and cook for 3-4 min.
  4. Add the cooked dals and salt to the mixture. Cook for 3 min. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Keep aside.

Ingredients:  For Churma:

1 cup coarse wheat flour

1/4 cup semolina
4 tbsp ghee
2 tbsp almond picies
1/4 tsp elaichi powder
5 tbsp sugar powder
Ghee for frying

Method For Churma:

  1. Prepare a mixture from coarse wheat flour, semolina and ghee in a bowl. Add ¼ cup water and mix well to make hard dough.2. Divide the dough into some small equal parts.
  2. Make round balls pressed from center with the dough.
  3. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan and deep fry the round dough balls at a low flame till they turned into a golden brown color from overall.
  4. Keep them on an absorbent paper and allow them to cool.
  5. Now grind these dough balls into a powder.
  6. Now add dry fruits and powdered sugar and mix them well. Keep aside.

Ingredients: For Batti:

1 cup coarse wheat flour
1/2 cup semolina
2 tbsp besan flour
1/2 cup milk
4 tbsp ghee
1 tsp fennel seeds
1/4 tsp carom seeds
salt according to taste
ghee for frying

Method For Batti:

  1. Mix all the ingredients into a bowl and make hard dough without using water.
  2. Divide the dough into some small equal parts.
  3. Make round balls pressed from center with the dough.
  4. Now boil water in a non-stick pan and add all the battis into the pan and boil them for 15-20 minutes. Allow them to cool.
  5. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan and deep fry the round dough balls at a low flame till they turned into a golden brown color from overall.
  6. Keep them on an absorbent paper and allow them to cool.

 

Dal Batti Churma is now ready to serve. Serve this delicious Dal with Batti and Churma accompanying chopped onions to it.
